The chisel is used to remove most of the waste, but now I switch over to my router plane.

This is a great little jig that straddles the edge of the door. It provides support for the router plane so the bottom of the mortise can be cleaned up.

Here is the hinge fit to the mortise. The little cutouts on the sides of the jig are to allow the hinge to be fit without the pivot point hitting anything. The other side is cut out as well, so it can be used for either a right or left side hinge.
